Classroom Guidance Lessons
Every student in grades 1-4 will have weekly guidance lessons for one quarter of the school year. Grade 5 emphasizes growing awareness and skill development of service learning. Using a district-wide curriculum developed from state and national guidance standards, I teach the following topics to address those standards:
Kindergarten: Assistance in development of social behavior
Grade 1: Social Skills and Peer Relations- Quarter 1
Grade 2: Conflict Resolution-Quarter 2
Grade 3: Bullying and Teasing Awareness and Prevention Strategies-Quarter 3
Grade 4: Tolerance and Appreciating Diversity and Career Development-Quarter 4
Grade 5: Student Council, Leadership Training, and College Planning-Quarterly
All lessons emphasize self-esteem building and positive group dynamics. Classroom lessons also assist me in getting to know every student in our building. Please ask your child what he/she is learning in guidance to reinforce the concepts!
