Blizzard Bag Day 5

ACTIVITIES SHEET

There are so many wonderful ways to learn at home or wherever you are spending the day today! Here are some activities you may choose to do today. You do not have to complete all of these supplemental activities, just have fun with the ones you choose to do:

-Create at ā€œTop Fiveā€ list of your favorite books! Place your favorite books on a table or your bed and choose one to read to a family member.   Remember, if you cannot read the  words, you can tell the story from the pictures.

-Math is Everywhere! See how many geometric shapes you can find in your home.   What is the shape of your bed, door, kitchen table, washroom sink and couch?   Think about circles, squares, rectangles, ovals and triangles.

-Be a helper! Ask the grownup in your house if there is something you can do to help out. Maybe your care-provider needs help cleaning up after snack or a neighbor needs to have an animal walked.

-Recycled animals!  We are learning about baby animals.  Can you find some fun items around your home to create one of your favorite baby animals?  Think about the cute animals you know and let your imagination soar.   Please feel free to bring your baby animal to school on the next day we have school.   Weā€™d love to see your wonderful creation.

-You are cool! You are cool, you go to school, and you know the Golden Rule.   Treat others the way you wish to be treated!   Teach someone in your home the Golden Rule chant and have fun!  You can also practice our patriotic songs. Right now, we have learned: America the Beautiful, God Bless America and You're a Grande Old Flag. Sing and play or teach them to a friend!

-Real animals need real love!  We ask you to think about this every  time we have a Blizzard Bag day.  Iss there a dog who needs to be brushed? Maybe you can refill the water bowl for a kitty? Remember, our animal friends need your love.  Be sure to ask an adult about how you can best care for your animal-friend!

-Itā€™s time to rhyme!   Remember the song, ā€œI know a name that sounds like ā€¦ā€  Use the names of friends or family members who are spending time with you today and teach the song to a friend!

-Have a Handwriting Hoopla! You can practice forming your letters in many ways today.  An adult may give you a cookie sheet and some rice, beans, flour or even whipped cream to practice your LOWER CASE letters! There is a letter formation sheet and some extra 'pen to paper' practice sheets you may use as well! Just check your Blizzard Bag or head to www.starfall.com for practicing literacy/handwriting skills!

-Super Science Sites! Go to Mrs. J.'s homepage and click on Super Science Sites. There are some fun websites you will enjoy exploring! Please make sure an adult helps access the web and navigates through the site(s)!
