KRSD School Calendar Survey

posted May 9, 2018, 11:32 AM by Mark Schaub

Dear Parents, Employees, and other Community Members,

The KRSD school board is looking for input from the community on the school calendar, particularly one or two vacation weeks in second half of the year.  We will be working over the next couple of months on collecting as much data from community members of all 7 towns in our district including parents, teachers, school staff, business owners and any others with an interest.  We will start with a very short survey that will be distributed  to the public.  Based on the results of the survey,  a committee will be formed with representatives from all of the towns and schools as well as some local businesses.   The committee will research what other communities have done or not done with their calendars, both in NH and around the US.   As part of the research, we intend to hold regional public hearings to allow stakeholders to present their positions on whether to change the calendar or keep it the same.  A report of the committee’s findings will be submitted to the KRSD school board in the Fall.  We want to make clear that this not a move to change the calendar; this is simply an exercise to study the best school vacation schedule.
