Sutton Central School Supports Military Families and Students - Purple Star Program

Hello SCS Community,

Attached is information about our Purple Star program in the District.  This program is led by Mrs. Nicole Densmore, our music teacher, for the elementary schools.

The Purple Star School Program supports military-connected children and their families by responding to the educational and social-emotional challenges they may face associated with unexpected deployment, relocation, changing schools, and adjusting to new communities. To get started, we will identify military-connected students (which refers to children of service members on active duty) within our district. With the aid of this grant, we will then be able to help these students and their families access community-based resources, assist with transitions to a new school, and keep them on track to be college, workforce and life-ready. Participation in this program is voluntary and a form is included with the attachment for our military-connected children.  Forms can be returned to Sutton Central School.
