*All scholarship information has been uploaded to the Kearsarge website under guidance.
From the School Nurse - Anne Carey email@example.com & Carrie Guerrette firstname.lastname@example.org are available via email if you have any questions or concerns about anything medical. (including the COVID-19). They also have resources on our website available to all.
Teacher Availability / Student Supports (Wednesday Schedule) *NEW* - In order to help students obtain more personalized instruction, remediate work, and to balance their academics and general well-being, KRHS plans to implement extended teacher availability / support day each Wednesday. The hope is to support students in receiving extra support with their academics or to allow students more flexibility to meet with other support services. Students wishing to connect with their teachers on Wednesdays should make appointment times, or schedule these meetings on Monday or Tuesday as; teachers will also be using this time for collaborating with colleagues or other planning.
Student Academic Expectation - All students are expected to participate in the online activities that are being prepared by teachers to be loaded into Google Classrooms each day. Please remember that many, if not all classes are happening in “real-time” during our daily schedule. While this may not be the case everyday or every period, students should be available and ready to engage with their classes at the times outlined above. Students that miss a real-time activity will be marked as absent for that class period (exceptions do apply in some cases, please review “attendance”). The schedule is located on the KRHS website here: https://www.kearsarge.org/high-school/news/remote-learning-schedule
The school has developed a schedule to run all periods on a two-day rotation known as “Blue” and “Gold” days. Odd periods will meet on “Blue” days, and even periods will meet on “Gold” days. Students can reach out via email to request help from a specific teacher. There is a 30 minute “break” for lunch.
Attendance - Remote learning differs from “blizzard bag” days, and most, if not all classes will work in real time. Some sessions may be pre-recorded which would preclude students from actually needing to be online at the assigned time. However, generally, students should be engaging with teachers during the scheduled time. Students that are unable to attend a class meeting at the scheduled time should communicate their absence ahead of time. Students will be marked absent based if they fail to communicate with their teachers during the scheduled period and/or school day. Students that accumulate 2 or more consecutive absences in a class will be contacted by school administration. Students do not need to check into study halls (no attendance will be taken at these times).
X-Block - X-block sessions will be held on “Gold” days and remain a valuable opportunity for students to get more personalized instruction, remediate work, ask for enrichment opportunities, or meet with their advisor. Many teachers have created sign up sheets using google where students can sign up for a meeting time. In addition to teacher support, advisories will be meeting. Advisors will reach out to their group and meet during an X-block to support student well-being and social / emotional needs. For those students without a free period, X-block is also a good time to connect with a school counselor.
Student Well-Being - School Counselors will host office hours daily to address day-to-day issues, as well as continue working with our seniors as they approach graduation. All counseling and other mental health support services shall be made available through Google Meet, video conferencing, or other school-approved tools (following ethical and confidentiality standards as outlined by ASCA).
Tech Support - Submit a technology support request located on the district website, under staff resources or email email@example.com
Feeling Sick and Can’t Attend Class? - If you do need to be “absent” from a class period or have a medical appointment, we understand. Please call or have someone in your family call the school to notify us of your absence and if possible let your teachers know (through email) that you will not be attending class. Your teachers expect you to be “present” each day at the times as listed on the blue/gold schedule.
AP Exams - AP Exams will be turning digital in lieu of students involved in remote learning. For the 2019-20 exam administration only, students can take a 45-minute online exam at home. Any student already registered for an exam can choose to cancel at no charge. Please keep an eye on your email for further information within the next week or so. In the meantime, access https://www.youtube.com/user/advancedplacement for test review resources! Contact Ms. Tenney with questions.
SAT - The State of NH has canceled all standardized testing for the rest of this school year. That means KRHS will not be giving the School Day SAT. I encourage you to go to Collegeboard.org to look for other available test dates that might work for you and your family. Please contact Mr. Angus with any questions.
Spring Sports - Spring sports seasons have been temporarily postponed and there is hope that there could be an abbreviated season yet to come. Should a spring season happen, it is still required for all athletes to have a concussion baseline test in order to participate. It is possible to complete this test at home with instructions from Molly. If you'd like to do that and get it out of the way please email Molly and she will set up a time for testing!
If you have been to see Molly previously for injuries and rehabilitation reach out to Molly MQuigly@kearsarge.org and create an at home rehabilitation plan. This is highly recommended for those that have been in frequently or who have recurring injuries
Daily workouts that you can do from home with minimal (if any) equipment are posted on this page https://www.kearsarge.org/high-school/krhs-athletics/pages/athletic-trai.... Reach out with questions about home workout plans or if you are looking for a specific type of workout.
Have a great day!
