School Counselor Curriculum

Caring School Community is the program currently utilized at Simonds School to address the social and emotional learning needs of students.  This program focuses on Building Caring Relationships, Direct Teaching of Social Skills, Effective Classroom Management, and Cultivating Self-Discipline.

October is National Bullying Prevention Month:  Elementary School Counselors across the District collaborated to identify grade appropriate resources for all students K through 5th grade.  In October, Elementary School Counselors provide classroom lessons across all grade levels, focused on bullying awareness and prevention.

Elementary School Counselors are currently in the process of updating school counseling curriculum for students in Kindergarten through 5th grade.  School Counseling Units include the following:
